Ross Rounds

Writer: Garden Honey ApiariesGarden Honey Apiaries

I want to offer another product to my customers this year, comb honey. While browsing honeybee supplies last fall I found the square cutters for cutting the comb directly from the frames and I was convinced this was the way to go. However, yes, there is a however, I met another fellow beekeeper who introduced me to the wonderful world of Ross Rounds! I have not introduced them into my apiary yet but this spring looks like a good time to start. I mean, I love the idea of bees building and filling the rounds with comb and sweet honey which are set within the hive frame. Easy to remove, package and label, also very clean as opposed to the comb cutter I mentioned earlier.

I would love to hear from you if you have used one or the other methods I've discussed. How did it work for you? Please share your experience!
