Anytime I have a chance I like to try making things. Shampoo bars, lotions, scrubs, tinctures and salve, among other things. Talking to another fellow beekeeper a couple months ago about his endeavor in making home brewed kombucha peaked my interest. And so, two months later I am pleased to say that I have started a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) from scratch and currently have my first ferment sitting in the dark! Kombucha delivers a nice carbonated fizz much like soda, but this fermented beverage is heaIthy for your gut and comes in many delicious flavors! I will check my brew in seven days to see how my SCOBY is doing and to taste test. Stay tuned!
